- Get CD image from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadUbuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 Live CD
- Burn ISO image you just donwload on a clean CD-ROM and boot computer from that CD.
You will get into Ubuntu Live, a running Ubuntu environment that just "live" on the CD. From there you can permanently install Ubuntu on your disk simply clicking on the "Install" icon on the desktop.
Follow the simple instructions to get through the installation process.
The only difficult step during installation could be about "where" to install system. If you have a clean disk, this is a no pain issue but, if you want to install Ubuntu on a disk that already has other operating system on it, or you just have multiple partitions, then you need to tell Ubuntu where to install. Just made sure to select the right virtual device and give him the "slash" root. Take a look at this picture for an example.

When installation is completed the system reboot and CD is ejected.
After reboot you login. As suggested by the system, execute all the updates, then reboot again.
You are ready to enjoy with Ubuntu.
A little warning:
Ubuntu should work now but no one has ever configured your system for you.
